Johnstone and Area Community Transport

Initially this page was set up to improve the bus service in Kilbarchan.

We have now been approach by groups in the Johnstone catchment area, asking to assist in their requirements for travel.

The company is registered at Company House as a not for profit company or a CIC (Community Interest Company).

Johnston and Area Community Transport have applied for an operator’s license to operate service buses. The closer the buses operate near Johnstone then the more frequent the service can be.

It is not possible to do everything that is wanted. With the limited resource, we have, we must provide the best community solutions. At first to cater for as many people as possible with the resources we have and build from there.

As a not for profit company no director payments or dividends will be given. Staff will be paid and the purchase and maintenance of the buses is very important. We also must make money to meet the finical obligation such as wages and fuel, but no profit. Accessible vehicles will be provided. They may not be shiny and brand new but will be safe.

There are other operators in the Johnstone area. We do not intend to compete with them. If we can provide a service they don’t we will consider it.

This venture is to get people where they need to get to, as cheaply as possible, with a reasonable frequency. Doctors, Shops, Train Station, Chemists, Bank or Post Office, Clubs, Recreation Facilities, the Hub and Religious establishments are all places that will be considered to provide a service to.
